23-Year-Old Man Faces DUI Charges After Fatal Crash in Porter Ranch

A 23-year-old man is facing potential DUI charges following a crash that left one person dead and two others injured in Los Angeles over the weekend.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the crash occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday in the Porter Ranch area. Investigators said a 2015 Acura was traveling at a high rate of speed along Tampa Avenue, south of Tunney Street, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Police said the car veered off the roadway and crashed into a traffic signal and nearby private property. The impact caused one passenger to suffer fatal injuries, while another passenger sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

The driver, identified as Ernesto Ramos of Northridge, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police said he remains hospitalized under police custody and will face charges once he is released.

Investigators said driving under the influence is suspected in the crash.
