Man severely injured in West Los Angeles hit-and-run crash; police searching for driver

Police are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a man severely injured in Los Angeles.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision happened around 12:34 a.m. on Jan. 19 in West Los Angeles.

Investigators said a black Toyota Prius traveling south on Bringham Avenue struck a man who was sitting in the roadway.

Police said the driver did not stop after the collision and dragged the victim several yards before continuing toward San Vicente Boulevard.

Authorities released video showing a witness warning the victim to get out of the road as a vehicle approached. Another car could be heard honking before the Prius struck the man. The witness also shouted at the driver to stop moments before the crash.

The victim suffered severe injuries, police said.

Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing and reminded drivers that they are required to stop and remain at the scene after a collision.
