Three people were injured Friday afternoon in a crash involving a police cruiser in Madison County, Kentucky, according to the Kentucky State Police.
Authorities said the collision happened shortly before 4 p.m. along Lancaster Road.
Police cruiser collided with oncoming vehicle
Investigators said an officer driving a marked patrol vehicle from the Cave City Police Department was traveling west on Lancaster Road and attempted to make a left turn onto Caleast Road.
During the turn, the cruiser reportedly pulled into the path of an eastbound Hyundai Genesis, resulting in a collision.
Drivers and juvenile passenger hospitalized
Police said both drivers involved in the crash, along with a juvenile passenger in one of the vehicles, were transported to Baptist Health Richmond for treatment.
Officials reported that all three suffered minor injuries.
Investigation into crash ongoing
State police said the crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Cave City, Kentucky, where the patrol vehicle originated, is located in Barren County, Kentucky, roughly 138 miles southwest of Richmond.
