A police pursuit involving a suspected stolen vehicle led to the closure of northbound lanes on Interstate 5 near East Los Angeles, California late Friday night.
Authorities said the chase began when deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department attempted to stop a vehicle believed to be stolen near Lakewood, California.
Pursuit ends near Boyle Heights
The pursuit eventually slowed and came to a stop in the northbound lanes of the freeway near the Sacramento Street exit in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles.
Officials said the suspect stopped the vehicle in the middle lanes and refused to surrender to law enforcement.
Freeway closure issued during standoff
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert, closing all northbound lanes of the freeway while officers handled the situation.
Authorities have not released further details about the suspect or whether any arrests were made.
