Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Miami-Dade Shooting

A 22-year-old man is facing charges after a shooting in Miami-Dade County’s West Little River neighborhood, according to records.

Deputies said the victim was riding a scooter home on Oct. 11 when he noticed a black Nissan Altima following him. The victim “threw a rock” at the car’s front windshield, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Investigators said Keyon Curington, who was a passenger in the Altima, opened fire on the victim near Northwest 86 Terrace and 23 Avenue.

Deputies arrested Curington on Nov. 27, and he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faces charges of second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon, throwing a deadly missile, and evidence tampering, records show.

Curington appeared in bond court on Nov. 28. A judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and denied him bond on the attempted murder charge.

According to court records, his pre-trial detention hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, and his arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 29 at 9 a.m. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lody Jean will preside over the case.
