Kentucky Man Faces Over 200 Charges in Major Child Exploitation Case

A 36-year-old man from Covington, Kentucky, is facing more than 200 felony charges after authorities uncovered a large cache of child sexual abuse material on his phone, according to prosecutors.

Investigation Began After Domestic Dispute

Officials said Joshua Boykin was arrested on January 28 following a domestic incident at his home on Herman Street. During the dispute, his wife reportedly discovered a hidden, password-protected folder on his phone containing disturbing content and alerted police.

A detective later obtained a search warrant to examine the device, leading to the discovery of numerous images and videos depicting child sexual abuse.

Authorities Allege Content Was Downloaded and Created

Prosecutors say Boykin admitted to downloading explicit material through various apps and storing it secretly on his phone. Investigators also allege that some of the files were created by him.

Authorities stated that the content involved multiple victims, including at least one of Boykin’s own family members and a child under the age of five.

Extensive List of Charges Filed

A Kenton County grand jury indicted Boykin on a wide range of serious charges, including:

  • 15 counts of first-degree rape involving a victim under 12
  • 38 counts of first-degree sodomy involving a victim under 12
  • 2 counts of human trafficking
  • 50 counts of promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 12
  • 102 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material
  • 37 counts of first-degree sexual abuse involving a minor under 12

Prosecutors confirmed that the indictment involves three identified victims, with evidence suggesting there may be at least two additional victims in other jurisdictions.

Court Proceedings and Custody Status

Boykin is currently being held at the Kenton County Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in Kenton Circuit Court for arraignment.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities say the investigation remains active as they continue to examine evidence and identify potential additional victims.
