Man arrested in connection with graffiti on church, damaging cars

Court documents from Marshall County show that 46-year-old Damon Daniels faces multiple charges for graffiti on a Plymouth church, a residence, an attorney’s office, a truck, and damage to parked cars.

Authorities charged Daniels with three counts of Criminal Mischief involving damage between $750 and $50,000 — all misdemeanors — and one count of Institutional Criminal Mischief, a Level 6 felony.

He appeared in court Tuesday, and his next hearing is scheduled for December 17.

According to the probable cause affidavit, around 1:19 a.m. on November 17, a Plymouth police sergeant spotted spray paint on the sign of an attorney’s office on North Center Street.

Police say someone had tagged one side in black paint with the word “SLUT,” while the other side read, “Whore work here slut.”

Officers contacted the attorney, who then reached out to his secretary.

The secretary reported similar vandalism at her home.

At her residence on Pennsylvania Avenue, officers found both of her cars with slashed tires and the word “SLUT” spray painted in black across her driveway.

Around 7:32 a.m., another officer responded to St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where someone had spray painted “F* CATHOLICS”** on the front porch.

Investigators noted that the handwriting and paint color matched the earlier locations.

The secretary told police she previously had a friendship with Daniels. Officers interviewed Daniels around 10 a.m., after reading him his Miranda Rights.

Police say Daniels admitted to spray painting all three locations and slashing the secretary’s car tires.

When investigators asked if he had vandalized any additional places, Daniels said yes. He told them he had crossed out “Jesus Saves” on the tailgate of a white Ford pickup at his apartment complex and painted “F* JESUS.”**

An officer later found the truck, photographed the damage, and contacted its owner.
