Three Suspects Arrested After Armed Home Invasions Target Women in Homer Glen and Lemont

Police have taken three suspects into custody after a pair of armed home invasions in Homer Glen and Lemont that investigators believe were carried out by the same crew.

According to authorities, the robbers targeted women as they pulled into their driveways, then forced their way inside the victims’ homes.

Homer Glen Attack

The first home invasion happened Wednesday afternoon in the 16800 block of South Deer Path in unincorporated Homer Glen. The Will County Sheriff’s Office said a 73‑year‑old woman had just returned from grocery shopping when a man in a hoodie confronted her inside her garage at gunpoint. A second man got out of a dark-colored Acura that had followed her home.

The two robbers forced the woman into her house, bound her wrists and ankles, and threatened to kill her if she didn’t provide her credit card PIN. After taking her card, they withdrew $2,000 from an ATM in Orland Park, police said.

Once the men left, the victim freed herself and ran to a neighbor for help. Residents said she was terrified when she arrived at their door, and neighbors have been on high alert since the broad‑daylight attack.

Second Home Invasion in Lemont

The same group struck again Thursday afternoon on the 1200 block of Covington Drive in Lemont. Police said at least two armed men forced their way into a woman’s home. A black Acura spotted at the scene matched the one used in the Homer Glen incident.

A short time later, Joliet police located the Acura and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled. After a short chase, the car crashed near Route 52 and Rowell Avenue. Three suspects ran from the vehicle but were quickly caught. Officers recovered two guns that the suspects discarded while fleeing, thanks to a Joliet police K‑9 unit.

Sheriff’s officials said all three suspects have extensive criminal histories, and one is a juvenile. Charges were pending Thursday night.

Authorities reminded residents to stay alert when arriving home. Anyone who believes they’re being followed is urged to drive to a police station or a busy public area.
