Crash, shooting and fight near Sacramento-area gym leaves 3 injured

Authorities detained at least one person after a crash, shooting and fight erupted near a gym in the Arden-Arcade area on Thursday evening.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. near the 24 Hour Fitness on Fulton Avenue close to Hurley Way. Sacramento Metro Fire, which also responded, described the situation as a “vehicle accident with a violent crime assault.”

Metro Fire reported that a rollover crash happened first in the parking lot, leaving one person critically injured. The California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento division said a vehicle was driving erratically, appearing to do donuts, before crashing into five parked cars.

Metro Fire stated that gunfire struck a fire engine after crews arrived at the scene. No firefighters were hurt.

The sheriff’s office said at least one additional victim was shot and remains in critical condition. Another individual suffered injuries during a fight that followed, though the extent of those injuries was unclear.

Metro Fire said all three injured individuals received treatment at the scene before being transported to area hospitals.
