At least one person was detained following a series of violent incidents near a gym in Arden-Arcade Thursday evening.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reported the events began around 5:30 p.m. near the 24 Hour Fitness on Fulton Avenue, close to Hurley Way. Sacramento Metro Fire, which also responded, described the situation as a “vehicle accident with a violent crime assault.”
According to Metro Fire, the initial crash involved a rollover in the parking lot that left one person critically injured. The California Highway Patrol’s North Sacramento division stated one car had been driven erratically, performing donuts, before colliding with five parked vehicles.
After first responders arrived, a fire engine was struck by gunfire, though no crew members were injured.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that at least one other victim sustained gunshot wounds and was in critical condition, and a third person was injured during a subsequent fight. All three injured individuals were treated at the scene before being transported to nearby hospitals.
Two suspects were detained, though authorities have not released additional details about them.
The circumstances surrounding the crash, shooting, and fight remain under investigation.
