Elderly Man Killed in Head-On Crash in Oakland County, Multiple Others Critically Injured

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — An 86-year-old man was killed and three others, including his wife, were seriously injured in a devastating head-on collision in Orion Township, authorities said.


Fatal Crash Reported on Lapeer Road

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 1:11 p.m. on April 11 near the intersection of Lapeer Road and Greenshield Road.

Investigators say a Ford Fiesta traveling northbound left the roadway, crossed the median, and entered the southbound lanes.


Head-On Collision Leaves One Dead

The vehicle then collided head-on with a Lincoln MKX driven by Alfred Henry Young.

Young was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.


Three Others in Critical Condition

  • Young’s 86-year-old wife was critically injured
  • The 63-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta
  • His 60-year-old wife

All three were taken to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, officials said.


Cause of Crash Under Investigation

Authorities noted that alcohol, drugs, and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash at this time.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.
