Florida Man Accused of Killing 2 Children and Setting Home on Fire

Florida prosecutors announced they will seek the death penalty for 27-year-old John Henry Walston Jr., accused of sexually assaulting a child, killing two minors, and setting their home on fire to cover the crime.

Walston faces multiple charges stemming from a November incident on Flaxman Street. An Escambia County grand jury indicted him on two counts of first-degree premeditated murder, sexual battery on a child under 12, arson, and animal cruelty.

The investigation began on Nov. 7, when Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but authorities discovered the bodies of two children and a family dog inside.

Forensic analysis confirmed the children were already deceased before the fire, with the Medical Examiner reporting both had their throats cut.

Deputies allege that Walston committed the murders and sexual battery before setting the mobile home ablaze.

Walston remains in custody at the Escambia County Jail, with his next court appearance scheduled for Jan. 13.
