A Florida man has been taken into custody after police say he threatened a neighbor with a sword during a heated argument, escalating what began as a neighborhood dispute into a serious criminal case.
Argument Escalates Into Armed Threat
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to a disturbance call involving a weapon in the 1800 block of Everest Parkway shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Authorities identified the suspect as Raul Elosegui Fernandez, 41, who allegedly confronted his neighbor while armed with a sword.
Investigators said the situation intensified when Fernandez retrieved a weapon from his vehicle and approached the victim in a threatening manner.
Details of the Alleged Weapon
Police reports indicate that the suspect used a tan-handled sword with an approximately 3-foot blue metal blade. Witnesses told officers that Fernandez raised the weapon above his shoulder while making threatening remarks toward the victim.
Fearing for his safety, the neighbor retreated inside his home and immediately contacted law enforcement.
Suspect Located and Arrested
Following the incident, officers tracked Fernandez to his residence on Southwest 6th Place, where his white pickup truck was located. The sword was reportedly visible inside the vehicle and later seized as evidence.
Fernandez was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges Filed
Police confirmed that Fernandez has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, a serious felony offense under Florida law.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have not released additional details about the motive behind the dispute. The case remains under investigation as officials review evidence and witness statements.
