Fort Lauderdale, FL — A chaotic series of crashes on West Broward Boulevard early Wednesday morning left three people injured after a BMW collided with a firetruck following an initial multi-car crash.
The chain of events began at the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and 7th Avenue, when a black Audi and a white BMW collided. Moments later, the BMW flipped over and slammed into a firetruck that was waiting at the intersection.
Fortunately, none of the firefighters on board were injured. They immediately exited the vehicle to assist the injured victims.
Bystanders captured video of the dramatic scene, showing the aftermath of the collisions and the rapid response by first responders.
All three victims were transported to Broward Health Medical Center. Officials reported that the Audi driver has been released, the passenger remains in stable condition, and the BMW driver is in critical condition.
“This is terrible, I’m not going to lie,” local resident Shamieh Anderson told CBS News Miami. “I pray to God that nobody dies.”
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crashes. West Broward Boulevard has since reopened to traffic.
