Gunman Who Threatened to Kill Miami-Dade Barber Is a Convicted Felon, Deputies Say

The 48-year-old customer accused of pointing a gun at a barber in Perrine is a convicted felon and a “known violent offender,” according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office records.

Deputies identified the gunman as Darious Davis, who allegedly stormed into Square Biz on Nov. 25, shouted threats — even with children present — and assaulted the shop’s owner, Samuel Wilson.

Davis was already in custody on unrelated charges when deputies tied him to the attack, an arrest report said. Miami-Dade corrections officers booked him on Nov. 28 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after a traffic stop.

Wilson provided surveillance video of the confrontation and told deputies Davis had been a customer for about a year.

“He wasn’t a man when he had that gun,” Wilson told Local 10 News. “He slapped me in the head with it, choked me out.”

Long Record of Violent Crime

Court records show Davis has prior convictions for:

  • Cocaine possession (1993)

  • Armed robbery (1993, 1998)

  • Burglary with assault (1998)

Prison records show he served time from 1999 to 2004, and again from 2006 to 2017.

New Charges Filed

Prosecutors filed the firearm-possession case on Nov. 29 and the case related to the barber shop attack on Nov. 30. Davis appeared in bond court both days.

A judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and the business and placed him on house arrest upon release.

Davis faces four charges stemming from the Nov. 25 attack:

  • Aggravated battery with a deadly weapon

  • Aggravated assault with a firearm

  • Use of a firearm to commit a felony

  • Improper exhibition of a weapon

Bond court judges released him on his own recognizance for the felon-in-possession charge and the improper exhibition charge. His remaining bond totaled $35,000.

Inmate records show Davis posted bond by Monday afternoon. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Zachary James will preside over both new cases.
