Huntington Double Homicide Suspect Captured in Northeast Ohio by U.S. Marshals

Police have made an arrest in connection with a double homicide that occurred in Huntington early Friday morning.

Kevante White, 27, of Akron, Ohio, was taken into custody Sunday in the Akron area by the United States Marshal’s Service, according to a statement from the Huntington Police Department.

Investigators identified White as the suspect in a shooting that claimed the lives of Adrian Phillips and Derious Johnson, and they issued a warrant for his arrest on Saturday. Police said White returned to Akron after the shooting, prompting assistance from the U.S. Marshals to locate and arrest him.

Authorities have charged White with two counts of first-degree murder. He also faces a malicious wounding charge related to a third person who was injured in the shooting and remains in stable condition at a Huntington hospital, police said.

White is currently being held in a Stark County, Ohio, jail as he awaits extradition to West Virginia, according to the release.
