The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying two individuals accused of shoplifting in Cross Lanes.
Deputies said the incident happened Sunday at the Rural King store in Cross Lanes. Authorities allege that a man and a woman stole ammunition and other firearm-related merchandise. The woman also reportedly took a pair of boots by putting them on and walking out of the store wearing them, according to the release.
Loss prevention officers confronted the man and recovered nearly $500 worth of stolen items, deputies said. However, the man allegedly became aggressive toward employees and left with the remaining merchandise.
Investigators said they do not know whether the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle.
Deputies described the man as white with a beard. Surveillance images show he was wearing a black zip-up hoodie at the time of the incident. The woman is described as black and was seen wearing a camouflage hat. Surveillance images also show she had on a DeWalt-branded hoodie with another jacket layered over it during the alleged theft.
