A motorcycle officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was taken to the hospital after a crash on the 405 Freeway near Sawtelle in West Los Angeles on Sunday evening.
The collision was reported shortly after 6 p.m. on the southbound side of I-405, just north of the I-10 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol incident log.
Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department transported the officer to a nearby hospital, where the officer was listed in fair to serious condition.
Investigators are still working to determine what led to the crash. CHP officers said they are looking into the possibility that the incident may have involved a hit-and-run.
A SigAlert shut down all southbound lanes of the 405 south of the 10 Freeway at around 6:25 p.m., causing heavy traffic delays. The closure was lifted shortly after 8:15 p.m.
