Man and 6-Year-Old Boy Attacked in Lincoln Park

A man and his six-year-old son were attacked with a sharp object Sunday night in Lincoln Park, Chicago police said.

The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on the 2700 block of North Sheffield Avenue. According to authorities, the victims were walking when they passed a man sitting on a bench who was talking to himself. The suspect reportedly became aggressive, brandished a sharp object, and attacked the man and child.

The 27-year-old man suffered a puncture wound to his left arm, while the boy sustained a minor laceration to his back. Both were taken in good condition to Illinois Masonic Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The suspect fled on foot, and no arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are investigating.

Neighbors expressed shock at the unprovoked attack. ā€œI’m shocked that it was unprovoked, that it was done to a man and a small child, but not shocked that there are people like that walking up and down the city,ā€ one resident said.
