Man Arrested in Surfside After Alleged Gun-Toting Road Rage and Brief Police Chase

A Miami man was arrested over the weekend following an alleged road rage incident in which he reportedly pointed a gun at another driver before leading police on a brief pursuit, authorities said.

Curtis Odell Wade Jr., 64, was taken into custody Sunday morning after the incident, which police say began in the Haulover area, continued through Bal Harbour, and ended in Surfside. According to an arrest report, the victim told officers that a driver pointed a firearm at him during the confrontation.

Police later spotted the suspect vehicle, but Wade allegedly refused to stop and fled, eventually crashing into a concrete wall. Officers took him into custody at the scene and recovered a firearm from inside his vehicle.

Authorities said Wade appeared to lose consciousness while seated in a patrol car and was transported to a hospital. While there, he reportedly admitted he did not stop for police because he had been drinking and feared the outcome.

Wade was booked on multiple charges, including DUI, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
