A 41-year-old man was hospitalized early Monday after being stabbed during a dispute in Chicago’s Avalon Park neighborhood.
According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident occurred around 10:11 p.m. Sunday in the 8200 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Avalon Park.
Police said the victim was arguing with another man when the suspect pulled out a sharp object and attacked him.
The victim suffered multiple puncture wounds and was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition.
Officers found a knife on the ground at the scene. Authorities said responding officers later spotted a man matching the suspect’s description nearby and took him into custody.
Crime scenes were established along the 8200 block of South Stony Island Avenue and near South Shore Motel & Suites at 8101 South Stony Island Avenue, about a block north. Police have not confirmed whether that location was where the suspect was arrested.
Investigators believe the incident may be domestic in nature.
