Man killed in crash on Dolphin Expressway; traffic resumes after major disruption

A man died following a major crash on the Dolphin Expressway Saturday morning, which caused significant traffic disruptions, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported.

FHP said the crash occurred on the westbound lanes of Florida State Road 836 near Northwest 57th Avenue just before 8:20 a.m., when a Toyota sedan collided with the rear of a white flatbed truck.

The Toyota driver, identified only as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was unharmed, authorities said.

Westbound lanes of SR-836 were temporarily shut down, causing heavy traffic backups. By around noon, traffic cameras showed that lanes had reopened and traffic was moving again.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation, and FHP did not provide further details.
