Man Taken into Custody After Richmond Barricade Incident

Richmond Police responded to a barricade situation on Park Crest Drive Monday afternoon that ended with officers taking a man into custody.

Officer Makenzie Davis said police received a report earlier in the day about a person who was reportedly suicidal and homicidal. Officers engaged in a brief pursuit near several car dealerships.

Davis said the man was wearing body armor and had some type of weapon, possibly a knife. Police contained him in or around his vehicle and set up a perimeter.

The situation unfolded around 1 p.m. near the Save A Lot Bypass in the Ash Park area.

Shortly after 2 p.m., police confirmed that officers took the man into custody without incident.

Authorities have not released his name.

This remains a developing story.
