A driver in Miami suffered serious injuries after managing to escape a vehicle that caught fire following a crash early Tuesday, authorities said.
Crash and Fire Response
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, crews responded just before 3 a.m. to reports of a single-vehicle crash near Northwest 14th Avenue and Northwest 54th Street.
Officials said the vehicle may have struck a pole before bursting into flames. Firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the fire.
Driver’s Condition
The driver was able to crawl out of the burning vehicle before first responders arrived. He was transported to Ryder Trauma Center with burns covering approximately 15% of his body.
Authorities said he remains in serious but stable condition.
Witness Account
A witness described the dramatic scene, saying the vehicle was still moving as flames spread.
“He was crawling out, and his clothes were already on fire,” the witness said, describing how the man escaped as the car burned.
Investigation Underway
The road was temporarily closed as crews worked at the scene, and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
The Miami Police Department is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
