Michigan City man charged with dealing cocaine at city park

Timothy Jerome Lewis, 44, of Michigan City, faces a Level 2 felony charge after prosecutors allege he conducted a cocaine transaction at Hansen Park.

Court documents state the incident occurred on July 25, 2025, around 3:31 p.m. Lewis is accused of arranging and carrying out the delivery while at the park.

Investigators say Lewis arrived as a passenger in a white Mercedes with a temporary Indiana license plate. He allegedly exited the vehicle, entered another parked car, and handed over a clear plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance before returning to the Mercedes and leaving the area.

The substance was later seized as evidence and tested using a TruNarc drug identifier, which confirmed it was cocaine hydrochloride. Court records show the package weighed approximately 15.4 grams, including packaging.

Lewis was booked into the LaPorte County Jail on January 6, 2026.
