Michigan Man Arrested After 3-Year-Old Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck in Kent County

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a tragic incident in Kent County left a 3-year-old child dead, authorities confirmed.

Deadly Incident in Cedar Springs

According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Friday afternoon in the Northland Estates Mobile Home Park, located in Cedar Springs, about 20 miles north of Grand Rapids.

Deputies responded shortly after 4 p.m. to reports of a child struck by a vehicle in the 13000 block of Darcy Circle NE.

Child Pronounced Dead Despite Rescue Efforts

Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the toddler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the suspect is engaged to the child’s mother and was described as a “father figure” to the victim.

Driver Arrested, Alcohol Suspected

The man was taken into custody and is currently being held in jail. He has been charged with reckless driving causing death.

Investigators indicated that alcohol may have played a role in the fatal crash, though the case remains under active investigation.

More Charges Possible

Officials said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court next week.
