OWI Charges Filed After Valparaiso Man Crashes Into Residence

Thomas William Webber, III, 34, of Valparaiso, faces multiple misdemeanor charges in Porter County after police say he drove a vehicle off the roadway and into a residence.

According to court documents, on January 4 around 6:49 p.m., Webber drove his vehicle off the road and crashed into a home at 384 Pinewood Drive in Valparaiso.

Court records state the crash posed a substantial risk of bodily injury to someone inside the residence.

During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment, including constricted pupils, slow reaction, confused and mumbled speech, and unsteady movement.

A chemical blood test revealed the presence of cannabinoids and benzodiazepines, both controlled substances. Court documents indicate Webber operated a motor vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person.

Charges filed January 26, 2026:

  • Criminal Mischief — Class A Misdemeanor (damage between $750 and $50,000)

  • Criminal Recklessness — Class A Misdemeanor

  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person — Class A Misdemeanor

  • Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated — Class C Misdemeanor
