Semi-Pickup Crash on I-75 in Broward County Blocks Lane, Prompts Air Rescue Response

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — A crash involving a semi-truck and a pickup caused significant traffic disruption Saturday morning along I-75, authorities said.

The collision occurred around 9 a.m. in the northbound lanes just before Exit 21 near Northwest 184th Avenue and Indian Trace, according to traffic officials.

Pickup Truck Wedged Under Semi

Emergency responders reported that the pickup truck struck the rear of the semi, becoming lodged underneath the trailer.

Crews from Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue worked quickly to extricate a person trapped inside the vehicle.

Victim Airlifted to Hospital

Due to the severity of the situation, an Air Rescue helicopter was dispatched to transport the injured individual to a nearby hospital.

Officials later confirmed the patient was in stable condition.

Lane Closures Cause Traffic Delays

The crash forced the closure of the right lane on northbound I-75, leading to delays in the area. The City of Weston said the helicopter cleared the scene around 10 a.m., allowing the highway to partially reopen.

Investigation Underway

Authorities said the Florida Highway Patrol will lead the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Drivers were urged to slow down and move over as emergency crews worked at the scene.
