Teen Boy Injured in Far South Side Shooting

A teenage boy is recovering in the hospital after being wounded in a shooting overnight on the city’s Far South Side.

Chicago police said the shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. in the 13000 block of South Evans Avenue in the Riverdale neighborhood.

Officers reported that the 17-year-old victim was standing in a nearby yard when he noticed a muzzle flash from a gun. Moments later, he realized he had been shot.

Police said the teen suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and back. He was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting, and no arrests have been made.
