A West Virginia state trooper rescued an elderly man in Pocahontas County last week after he spent several days trapped between his bed and a wall.
Law enforcement conducted a welfare check Friday at a home on Sheets Lane in Marlinton, where they found the 83-year-old man stuck in his bedroom, according to a news release from the West Virginia State Police.
The man told authorities he had been trapped for five days.
Troopers said emergency medical crews transported him to Pocahontas County Memorial Hospital before transferring him to LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Virginia, for further treatment.
WVSP credited Trooper First Class Z.M. Chestnut with acting quickly in what officials described as a life-threatening situation.
