West Virginia man accused of shooting brother multiple times; second man charged with assisting

Two men from Montrose are facing attempted murder charges after authorities say one shot his brother several times and the other helped restrain the victim.

West Virginia State Police reported that 37-year-old Derek Arbogast and 62-year-old Larry Talkington were arrested following a Thursday night incident in Randolph County.

Troopers responded around 9:15 p.m. to Mule Hollow Road, where they found 31-year-old Brett Arbogast of Elkins suffering from multiple gunshot wounds caused by a .22 caliber revolver.

Investigators said Derek Arbogast shot his brother multiple times. They allege Talkington then restrained the victim and dragged him back inside the residence, where Derek Arbogast shot him again.

Emergency crews airlifted Brett Arbogast to a Morgantown hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about his condition.

Both suspects are being held on $150,000 bonds in connection with the shooting.
