Westminster house fire leaves 1 dead, elderly woman injured in Orange County blaze

A deadly house fire in Westminster on Tuesday night left one person dead and an elderly woman injured, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters responded to the residential blaze around 7:20 p.m. in the 6200 block of Apache Road after reports of a home engulfed in flames. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire conditions with flames rapidly spreading through the structure.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that a person was trapped inside the burning home. Despite an aggressive firefighting effort and search operation, crews later discovered one victim deceased inside the residence. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.

An elderly woman who was outside the home when firefighters arrived suffered burn injuries and smoke inhalation. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, officials confirmed.

Fire crews were able to bring the blaze under control within a short time, preventing further spread. However, the incident remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the cause of the fire.
