Woman Who Says She Was Threatened by Sherrone Moore Calls for University of Michigan Investigation

A woman who says she was threatened by former football coach Sherrone Moore is calling on University of Michigan to investigate the situation, claiming she endured years of manipulation, harassment and exploitation.

Paige Shiver said she felt pressured and intimidated while working for Moore, who held significant influence over her professional life, according to a statement released by her attorneys.

Shiver is at the center of an ongoing criminal case involving Moore. The 39-year-old coach recently pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges after authorities said he broke into Shiver’s home and threatened her with a knife.

Moore had been fired from his position just hours before the alleged break-in. University officials said the termination came after they discovered evidence that he was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, ending his two-year tenure as head coach.

Shiver’s attorneys said attention should now turn to the university and whether it will take meaningful action to address what they described as serious failures in oversight.

According to the statement, Shiver believes others may also have experienced inappropriate or coercive behavior from Moore.

The University of Michigan declined to comment on the statement.

Shiver no longer works for the university after her contract expired Feb. 28 and was not renewed.

Moore pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of misuse of a telecommunications device in the context of a domestic relationship and trespassing. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the original charges, which included a felony and two additional misdemeanors.

The case has prompted two internal investigations at the University of Michigan. Officials have said Moore’s plea agreement will not affect those investigations.

Shiver’s attorneys said the situation raises broader concerns about how someone in a position of authority within a major college athletic program could allegedly engage in inappropriate conduct toward a subordinate for years without meaningful intervention.

They said their client chose to come forward despite the personal cost, hoping others who may have faced similar intimidation will feel empowered to share their experiences.
