A Florida man is being held without bond following a violent home invasion and sexual assault involving a woman who was in the process of moving out of her apartment.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Kelvin Johnson by the agency’s GAMEOVER Task Force. Johnson faces multiple serious charges, including sexual battery, home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and violation of probation.
Deputies began investigating the case on January 5 after responding to a distress call in a residential neighborhood. Authorities said the female victim ran to a neighbor’s home, pounding on the door and begging for help.
According to investigators, the victim was moving out of her apartment when the attack happened. She told detectives she had noticed a man lingering around the property for several days before the incident. On the day of the assault, the suspect allegedly forced his way into her apartment, held her at knifepoint, and sexually assaulted her.
After the attack, investigators said the suspect fled the scene, taking the victim’s phone and car keys.
Using a detailed description from the victim and surveillance footage from the surrounding area, authorities identified Johnson as the suspect.
Sheriff Wayne Ivey commended the neighbor who called for help and the quick work of investigators who located and arrested Johnson.
“My heart breaks for this victim, and we will do everything we can to help her through this time while keeping her perpetrator locked up so he can never victimize anyone else,” Sheriff Ivey said in a statement.
Johnson is currently being held at the Brevard County Jail Complex.
