A Jackson County judge found probable cause Monday in a case involving a West Virginia woman accused of making threats to assassinate the president of the United States.
Morgan L. Morrow, 39, of Ripley, appeared in magistrate court after her arrest on Jan. 25. Investigators said the arrest followed social media posts in which she allegedly plotted to assassinate President Donald Trump.
According to a criminal complaint, deputies were alerted to a post in which Morrow wrote in a caption, “surely a sniper with a terminal illness can’t be a big ask out of 343 million.”
“Based on the content, context and wording of the post, the statement was interpreted as advocating and encouraging the assassination of the President of the United States,” the complaint stated.
Morrow was charged with making threats of terroristic acts.
On Monday, a Jackson County Magistrate Court judge determined there was probable cause to move the case to circuit court for trial.
Morrow, who is currently on home confinement, was also ordered to stay off social media. Her bond was reduced to $25,000 or 10% through a bondsman.
