A Dallas man is being held without bond after allegedly abducting a 12-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her in a hotel room.
Graham Dunn, 27, is in the Galveston County Jail facing charges of kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a child, jail records show.
Galveston police said they responded around 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, after the girl did not return from walking her dog, which she had started around 7 p.m. Police said Dunn lured the victim into his car. A multi-agency search—including three drones and a DPS helicopter—tracked an emergency ping from the girl’s phone to a hotel.
Security footage confirmed Dunn taking the girl into a hotel room. Police forced entry around 10:30 p.m. and found Dunn with the victim.
Galveston Police Chief Douglas Balli praised the response:
“I’m grateful that our officers and everyone involved, all the other agencies involved, acted quickly and with urgency to save this child.”
Criminal history
Galveston Police detective Hector Dominguez said Dunn is a “serial sexual offender” with multiple arrests pending in Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Massachusetts, and Louisiana. His alleged victims include adults and juveniles, though no prior arrests have resulted in convictions.
Court records show Dunn had been on probation for a family violence misdemeanor from June 2023. His probation was revoked in October after a sexual battery and secret peeping arrest in North Carolina, and he bonded out in December. Prosecutors said he violated probation again, prompting an arrest warrant on Jan. 27, just three days before the Galveston incident.
Galveston County District Attorney Kenneth Cusick said Dunn will remain in jail without bond until trial:
“I’ve been a prosecutor for 37 years and this is one of the most disgusting situations I’ve heard of. We’re going to get a conviction on him, one or all of those charges, and we’re going to seek maximum sentencing. There should be no leniency for someone like this that’s proven again and again that they’re a sexual predator, preying not only on women but girls.”
