Downtown Los Angeles Homicide: Man Beaten to Death With Pole Near Convention Center, Suspect Sought

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was allegedly beaten to death with a metal pole in downtown Los Angeles early Tuesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Deadly Assault Near LA Convention Center

The incident occurred shortly after midnight near the intersection of Convention Center Drive and Venice Boulevard, close to the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Authorities say a security guard patrolling a nearby parking garage witnessed the attack, reporting that a suspect used a three-to-four-foot pole to repeatedly strike the victim.

Victim Found Unresponsive at Scene

When officers arrived, they discovered the victim—described as a man in his 50s—lying in a pool of blood. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene at approximately 12:35 a.m.

His identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Suspect Flees, Manhunt Underway

Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot as the security guard approached. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.

Investigators have not determined whether the victim and suspect knew each other or if the attack was random or targeted.
