Amazon Cargo Container Catches Fire on Moving Train in Downtown Los Angeles

An early morning fire broke out inside an Amazon cargo container being transported on a freight train in Downtown Los Angeles, prompting a response from emergency crews.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the blaze was reported around 5:20 a.m. as a Union Pacific Railroad train was traveling near the 3900 block of East Valley Boulevard.

Firefighters arrived to find flames burning inside a railcar loaded with Amazon packages. Crews worked for more than an hour to fully contain and extinguish the fire. Officials said there were no immediate indications that the container held hazardous materials.

Dramatic aerial footage showed flames shooting from the partially open container door while thick smoke trailed behind the moving train. Authorities noted that the train engineer was aware of the fire but continued moving until reaching a rail yard, where crews could safely address the situation.

No injuries have been reported, and the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
