A major traffic disruption unfolded early Thursday morning in Granada Hills after a semi truck crashed through a center divider along the transition between State Route 118 and Interstate 405.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. on the eastbound side of SR-118 near the southbound 405 connector.
Authorities said the big rig, for reasons still under investigation, struck and broke through the concrete divider. The truck came to a stop across multiple lanes, blocking the HOV lane on the eastbound side and several lanes on the westbound side as well.
Emergency officials issued a SigAlert shortly after the crash, shutting down the HOV and No. 1 lanes on eastbound SR-118, along with the HOV and lanes No. 1 through 3 on the westbound side near the interchange.
Officials have not confirmed how many vehicles were involved, if any beyond the truck, and there has been no immediate word on injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is unclear how long the lane closures will remain in place.
