ENCINO, Calif. — A 70-year-old man was hospitalized after a fire broke out inside an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) in Encino on Friday night, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Fire Reported Late Friday Night
Emergency crews responded to the 17000 block of Martha Street at approximately 9:49 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed light smoke coming from a converted garage being used as an ADU.
Fire Quickly Contained
Firefighters located a small interior fire involving household contents and were able to bring it under control swiftly, preventing further damage to the property.
Man Hospitalized With Injuries
Officials said the occupant, a 70-year-old man, sustained injuries during the incident and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries has not been disclosed.
No additional injuries were reported.
Cause Still Unknown
Fire officials have not yet determined what sparked the blaze, and an investigation is currently underway.
