Tampa police are investigating after a body was found floating in a retention pond near a busy commercial area Monday morning.
Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to the 2200 block of North West Shore Boulevard following reports of a person in the water. The department’s Dive Team was called in to recover the body.
Detectives remained at the scene as they worked to identify the deceased and notify next of kin. Authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the death or said whether foul play is suspected.
The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Police said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
