Coal Truck Overturns in Kanawha County, Slides Into Creek

A coal truck overturned Monday morning, forcing the closure of a roadway in Kanawha County, authorities said.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. along Point Lick Drive in Malden, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the truck slid down a hillside and into a nearby creek.

Officials reported that water entered the vehicle, but the driver was able to get out safely and was not injured.

The roadway was shut down following the incident. Authorities said the situation remains under investigation and additional details may be released.
