Merrillville Man Charged After Alleged Drug Deals Lead To Meth And Cocaine Seizure During Search Warrant

Tyreece Lovell Evans, 32, of Merrillville, is facing multiple serious felony charges after police say alleged drug sales earlier this month led to a search warrant at his apartment, where large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine were discovered.

According to a probable cause affidavit, investigators documented two separate methamphetamine transactions in early January at Evans’s apartment in the 5300 block of Connecticut Street in Merrillville. Based on those controlled buys, officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, which they executed on January 29, 2026.

During the search, officers found Evans inside the apartment. In the master bedroom, police located 6 grams of marijuana, three labeled 2.5-gram marijuana joints, and $911 in U.S. currency on a dresser.

Police also searched the apartment complex’s common laundry room, which was unsecured and accessible to the public. There, officers found a plastic bag containing packaging labeled “LatoPop Top Secret” cannabis flower. Inside the bag were four baggies of a crystal-like substance weighing a total of 114.2 grams that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, along with one baggie of a rock-like substance weighing 36.4 grams that field-tested positive for cocaine.

The affidavit states that the quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine recovered meet the threshold for possession with intent to deliver under Indiana law.

Court records further show Evans was previously convicted of Dealing in a Narcotic Drug on January 28, 2025, in Lake County.

After being advised of his rights, Evans denied selling narcotics and denied that there were any drugs, weapons, or cash inside the residence.
