A motorcyclist died after a hit-and-run crash Saturday night in southwest Bakersfield, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash in the 4500 block of Ming Avenue around 10:44 p.m. on Jan. 31, 2026.
When officers arrived, they found a male motorcyclist suffering from injuries that were initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
Police said the vehicle involved, described as a white sedan, fled the scene before officers arrived.
A preliminary investigation found that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Ming Avenue when the sedan made an unsafe turn, causing the collision.
Officers later contacted a woman believed to be the driver of the white sedan around 1:30 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2026. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing to determine her involvement.
The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital and later died Sunday morning. The Kern County Coroner will release his identity at a later time.
