San Fernando Valley Burglary Fears Rise After Studio City Home Ransacked Overnight

Residents across the San Fernando Valley are once again on edge after a late-night burglary in Studio City and attempted break-ins nearby.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers responded around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to a home on Sunshine Terrace after the homeowner returned to find the back door open and the property ransacked. Video from the scene showed officers approaching the house with guns drawn as they searched for suspects.

Authorities believe at least two people may have been involved, though no arrests have been made and it remains unclear what was taken.

Just miles away in Toluca Lake, police also responded to reports of attempted burglaries earlier that evening. In one case on Biloxi Avenue, suspects tried to break into a home but were unsuccessful.

The incidents come amid a broader surge in break-ins across the valley, prompting concern among residents and action from city leaders. Karen Bass and police Chief Jim McDonnell recently pledged increased patrols and a tougher response to the rising crime.

Despite those assurances, some residents say they are taking safety into their own hands. In North Hollywood, neighbors have started informal watch groups during daily routines like walking their dogs.

Police are urging the public to remain vigilant—report suspicious activity, secure homes properly, and avoid sharing travel plans online.

The investigation into the latest incidents is ongoing.
