Suspect captured after 24-hour manhunt in fatal Kentucky shooting

Authorities have arrested a man suspected in a deadly shooting that followed a fight in eastern Kentucky, ending a nearly day-long search.

According to police, 43-year-old Danny “Blue” Harold Asher was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Leslie County after someone reported a suspicious person in the area. His arrest concluded a multi-agency manhunt that began after the fatal shooting in nearby Hazard.

Investigators say Asher is accused of shooting 27-year-old Ryan Hunt during an altercation Tuesday morning at the Bubby Combs apartment complex on Darfork Road. Deputies responded to the scene shortly before 10 a.m. and found Hunt lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Witness statements led authorities to identify Asher as the suspect and obtain a murder warrant. Officials say Asher had fled the area and was believed to be armed, prompting an extensive search across eastern Kentucky.

Police said Asher and two women were reportedly involved in the fight with Hunt before the shooting. The women also left the scene after the gunfire, and investigators are considering additional charges against them.

Asher is being transported back to Perry County, where he will face a murder charge while the investigation continues.
