Teen Arrested in Connection to Fatal Tampa Shooting

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 18-year-old Cordaryl Johnson Jr. in connection with the death of 17-year-old Trevaun Johnson in October.

Johnson was taken into custody on the morning of Thursday, December 4, and faces second-degree murder, armed burglary of a conveyance with assault or battery, and robbery with a firearm involving the discharge of a weapon.

The investigation began on October 21, after deputies responded to reports of gunfire on the 10000 block of Country Hollow Drive. Officers found Trevaun Johnson deceased from upper-body trauma. Two other individuals were injured during the incident but survived and were hospitalized.

Sheriff Chad Chronister acknowledged the arrest and its impact on the community:

“For months, an entire community has lived in fear as a senseless act of violence stole a life and shattered their peace. By making this arrest, our detectives have restored a sense of safety that this neighborhood deserved.”

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities may release additional details as the case progresses.
