A fatal early morning crash near the Michigan-Wisconsin border left one man dead and another under arrest, according to authorities in Oconto County.
Deadly Crash in Town of Pensaukee
The crash occurred around 3:26 a.m. Sunday on Old 41 Road in the Town of Pensaukee, roughly 30 miles south of the Michigan-Wisconsin border.
Deputies with the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a collision involving a truck and a utility terrain vehicle (UTV).
When officers arrived, they found a 48-year-old man from Little Suamico lying on the ground next to the UTV with serious injuries.
Victim Dies After Being Transported
Emergency responders transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity.
Driver Arrested, Alcohol Suspected
Investigators said a 24-year-old man was driving a truck southbound on Old 41 Road when he collided with the UTV, which was also traveling south.
Officials believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
The truck driver was arrested at the scene. Authorities said the case will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office once the investigation is complete.
