A shooting Tuesday afternoon on Chicago’s Near West Side left two people dead and one person wounded.
Chicago police said three men were sitting inside a vehicle near a White Castle parking lot in the 2300 block of West Roosevelt Road just before 1:30 p.m. when three armed suspects walked up and opened fire.
Investigators said the vehicle caught fire during the gunfire.
- A 35-year-old man was shot an unknown number of times and was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 48-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he later died.
- A 44-year-old man was shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

Police said the suspects ran from the scene. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
A White Castle spokesperson released the following statement about the incident:
“We are deeply saddened by the senseless violence that occurred outside of our Roosevelt Road location today. We are cooperating with the Chicago Police Department as they investigate what happened. The restaurant will remain closed as they continue their work.”
