Family Member Arrested in Victorville Shooting That Left Two Dead, One Injured

A suspect has been arrested following a shooting in Victorville that left two women dead and a third victim hospitalized, authorities said.

Deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded around 8:58 p.m. Friday to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon and multiple gunshot victims in the 13000 block of Sundown Road.

At the scene, deputies found Ayanna Smith, 48, and Annaya Scott, 26, both of Cerritos, along with a 28-year-old man from Redlands, suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were taken to local hospitals, where Smith and Scott were pronounced dead. The male victim remains hospitalized.

Homicide investigators later identified 45-year-old Sydney Smith of Victorville, a family member of the victims, as the suspect.

Smith was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and booked into the High Desert Detention Center, where she is being held without bail.
